According to the Daily Mail, the python appeared to have climbed the electric pole to catch birds standing on the electric wire.
The python climbed the electric pole probably to hunt birds.
Locals in Chachoengsao, Thailand, were terrified when they saw the scene, fearing the python could cause an explosion that would knock out the power.
Rescuers used long sticks to try to pull the python down.
The vets had difficulty capturing the snake, even with one man placing a rope around its neck and two others removing it with long sticks. After turning off the power, they used a cherry picker to dangle over the snake’s head. The entire process took two hours.
The stubborn python probably wanted to stay on the electric pole.
Video footage captured by local reporter Arnon Wanitpongpiche shows the struggle between the rescuer and the python.
It took the rescue team two hours to rescue the python.
“I was watching TV when my wife said there was a python out there. She wanted me to chase it away but I refused and called for help,” said Somchai Somboon, a witness. “The danger is that it could cause an explosion and fire. The python seemed to like it up there and didn’t want to come down.”
Rescue workers from Bangwuakanarak council brought the python to the ground and put it in a sack. The python was released into the bushes a few kilometres away, away from residential areas.
