It’s recommended that you chew a piece of food at least 10 times before swallowing it, but this young python is clearly not one to listen to internet dietitians.
These captured images capture the moment a python devours a kingfisher in one go, after spending half an hour thinking about how to do it better.
The snake was seen dining in a tree in Kruger National Park, South Africa, when it startled the bird.

Wide open: A young python devours a kingfisher bird in one go in South Africa
The snake can be seen wrapping its body around the common kingfisher, before bending its head back over its body to swallow the kingfisher whole without being harmed by the bird’s beak.
The footage shows the snake opening its jaw as it uses its agile body to force the kingfisher into its mouth, all in one go.
David Bough, a photographer from the UK, spotted the python in a tree during a safari at Lake Rapis in Kruger National Park.
