Jack Cronin, 18, of Fort Meyers, surprised many people when he caught a 15-foot-long giant python on his first encounter.

A young reptile lover had a memorable experience when he and his family went to Everglade National Park, Florida (USA).

“This is the first time I’ve seen a python this big,” Jack said.

In Everglade, the Giant Python Hunting Challenge is held every year, with a reward of $10,000. This annual contest features experts and people who come into contact with pythons for the first time.

Before participating, players must complete mandatory online training. Burmese pythons are an invasive species in the Everglades and a competition is held every year to eliminate them. This year, the competition attracted more than 840 hunters from all over and lasted about 10 days.

Unfortunately, Jack caught the giant python about 5 hours after the contest ended. He discovered the giant python late at night.

“As I passed by, I saw a python head there, as big as a human head. I turned on a flashlight to see more clearly, but I couldn’t see its tail.”

Jack quickly grabbed the python’s head. It went berserk and what happened next looked like a wrestling match, according to Nypost.

Of course, Python has a much bigger size advantage over Jack. He is about 4.7 m long, while Jack is only 1.7 m tall.

It will be a difficult problem for any experienced hunter, a great challenge for a “novice” like Jack.

However, in the end, Jack won and captured the giant python. Last year, Dustin Crum won the award for catching the longest python, measuring about 3.3 metres.
