Although the prey was enormous, the African python was not intimidated and, little by little, it swallowed the giant rabbit into its stomach.
The scene in South Africa’s Kruger National Park has left many people shivering with fear. An African python , after killing a rare giant rabbit, slowly swallowed its prey in a gruesome way.
According to research, this rare giant rabbit is called a hare and its scientific name is Lepus saxatilis. It is only found in southern Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho.
Compared to common rabbits, the hare Lepus saxatilis is much larger. It is also very rare and its population is constantly declining.
Perhaps it was pure luck that the giant rock python was able to catch the hare Lepus saxatilis. Few predators manage to eat this rare species of hare.
At first, the size of the rabbit also made it difficult for the python. It constantly tried to squeeze itself, wanting the rabbit’s body to be smaller so it could swallow it more easily.
Throughout the constriction process, the python also maintains a gentle swallowing process.
Finally, after much effort, the giant python swallowed its rare prey.
As it swallowed the hare whole, the giant python also released the constrictors around its own body.
After successfully swallowing its prey, the python nearly vomited due to the rabbit’s enormous size. Fortunately, it managed to restrain itself and crawled to a secluded spot to stay still and digest its prey.
