Imagínate la escena: estás en tu casa, mirando tu propio negocio, cuando de repente miras hacia tu patio trasero y ves una serpiente pitón alfombra subiendo desde tu techo.
Eso es exactamente lo que nos pasó recientemente a nuestra sospechosa familia, cuando fueron testigos de una enorme serpiente pitufa devorando a una zarigüeya de tamaño adulto justo afuera de su casa en Australia.
El cazador de zarigüeyas Stuart McKeпzie fue llamado a la casa en la costa de Sussex en Queensland temprano en la mañana del miércoles 13 de mayo, después de que sus residentes vieron al zarigüeya deslizándose por el techo. Sin embargo, a su llegada, el hombre de 30 años escuchó una “conmoción” y se sorprendió al ver al zarigüeya de 6.5 pies saltar del techo de la familia con una gran zarigüeya de cola recta saltar de su boca.
Sin esperar a que la zarigüeya se comiera su comida, Stuart esperó una hora para que la pitón comiera a la zarigüeya. “Sabía que si intentaba quitársela en ese momento, probablemente dejaría caer su comida y no querría volver a comérsela”, explicó. “Está madura, así que el mejor resultado es que la serpiente le dé comida porque ya está muerta”.
Fue mientras esperaba que decidió capturar un video de lapso de tiempo del incidente, así como una serie de imágenes que muestran a la pitón en varias etapas de su comida.
Después de que la serpiente terminó su comida, Stuart la transportó desde la casa de la familia y la liberó en un matorral cercano, “a cierta distancia de las casas”, para que la pitón pudiera digerir su comida en paz.
La gente dice cosas terribles sobre su esposa, ¡pero él la apoya!
“Habrá encontrado un lugar helado y cálido para mantenerse caliente y digerir esa enorme comida durante la próxima semana”, explicó el cazador de serpientes. Las pitones son serpientes superpoderosas, por lo que atrapan a sus presas envolviéndose alrededor del animal y aplastándolo hasta matarlo antes de tragárselo entero.
Esta zarigüeya en particular pudo absorber a la gran zarigüeya porque las mandíbulas de las pitones pueden cerrarse para estirarse alrededor de criaturas más grandes. Bueno, prefiero a ellos que a mí.
