Some photos show the snake as strangely large, but shots taken from other angles seem more plausible.

While many people do not believe these photos are real, reptile expert at the biological center in Indonesia, Amir Hamidy, has a different opinion.

“I think the photo is real. The snake in the photo is a king cobra. They are the longest snakes in the world, growing up to 5-6 meters,” said Mr. Amir.

The Indonesian man later released the snake back into the wild.

Made Dwi Sudarmawan added: “I did not expect the photos to attract so much attention. I caught the snake while it was crawling around the residential area. We will soon release it into the wild, far away from human habitation.”

The king cobra is the longest venomous snake in the world. Its bite can kill even large elephants in a short time.

But this is not the largest reptile ever discovered in Indonesia. In March last year, a man living in Sulawesi was eaten by a giant 7-meter python. In October, another 7-meter python was killed by a group of locals, who then dismembered it and ate it.
